"Ruse Airport will start serving civil flights at the end of February 2022", Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Economy Daniela Vezieva told the BNT. The opening of the airport will improve business relations between Northern and Southern Bulgaria.

"The airport will serve Ruse and the surrounding areas. Profits cannot be expected at the very beginning. However, Bulgaria has the ambition to support this type of service in order to make it profitable within 2 years", Minister Vezieva added.

A return flight from Sofia to Ruse is expected to cost between EUR 30 and 40.

The airport’s building, which has been preserved over the years, will undergo repair and renovation works.
