Minister of Justice: We will enhance interaction with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office if Bulgaria’s prosecution fails to take action

Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Justice Ivan Demerdzhiev is preparing a request for the resignation of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. Minister Demerdzhiev is waiting for the Constitutional Court to rule whether this country’s Minister of Justice has the power to lodge such a request.

“The Prosecutor’s Office has not been active with regard to the numerous signals on irregularities submitted by the caretaker cabinets”, Minister Demerdzhiev said in an interview for the BNR. “We do everything we can to enhance interaction with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office when Bulgaria's prosecution fails to take action”, Minister Demerdzhiev assured.
