Demographic development, globalization, digitalization and rapid technological development are the core of a new reality, said Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev at the opening of an international conference on demographic sustainability in Sofia. In order to guarantee fair solutions caused by the aging population, a functioning economy, employment, quality education, high-level affordable healthcare with a special emphasis on children, the elderly and people with disabilities are needed, Radev added.

Silvia Perel-Levin, chair of the NGO Committee on Aging in Geneva, said demographic sustainability and aging go hand in hand. According to her, the aging population is not a threat.
