Council of Europe calls for reducing the influence of the Prosecutor General

The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has urged the authorities in Bulgaria to urgently take measures to reduce the influence of the Prosecutor General on the Supreme Judicial Council and the Prosecutors’ College, and for the introduction of an effective suspension procedure concerning the Prosecutor General. This is expected to take place via legislative, and if necessary – constitutional amendments.
