One of the biggest fears of Bulgarians are related to the inability to pay their bills in the conditions of an energy crisis, Bulgaria's ombudsman Diana Kovacheva told BNT. According to Eurostat data, 51% of Bulgarians have difficulty paying their heating bills. According to the ombudsman, the state should help everyone as measures have already been taken with regard to businesses.

However, this may happen after legislative changes, as there is no definition of what energy poverty means in the current Energy Efficiency Act.
