Former caretaker Deputy Minister of Health Dimitar Petrov has been summoned by the Commission for Counteracting Corruption and Illegal Assets Forfeiture, BNR reports.
He is being summoned in connection with claims in the media, including the Bulgarian National Radio, that one of the reasons for his being removed from office are the contracts for the supply of child-friendly Covid tests for schoolchildren. In Dimitar Petrov’s words this was a matter handled by caretaker Health Minister Stoycho Katsarov personally, and when Petrov started asking questions about the price of the tests commissioned, he was relieved of his post in mid-November. As reported earlier, the anti-commutation commission has launched a probe into the procedure for the purchase of rapid antigen tests for schoolchildren by the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Health on its part stated it welcomes the probe, adding that the procedure was impeccable.
