The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) will submit a bill banning the issuing of the so-called “golden passports” – the acquisition of citizenship in exchange for investments.

This step comes in response to a European Commission report according to which the “golden passports” are a hindrance in the negotiations with USA on a visa-free regime for the citizens of Bulgaria, Romania and Cyprus. The MRF declared they would demand a probe for each passport – on what grounds it has been issued and the condition of the investment on the basis of which it has been received.
