Commemorative rally marks 37 years after „revival process“

A commemorative rally was held in the village of Mogilyane to mark 37 years after the so-called „revival process.“  The entire leadership of the MRF participated in the commemoration. The forced change of Arabic-Turkish names with Bulgarian ones affected nearly 850 thousand Muslims in this country in the 80s of the 20th century. The process included attempts to ban the use of Turkish language in people's lives and the practice of religious rituals and traditions. Today, Muslims in Bulgaria honor the memory of 9-month-old Turkyan, who was the youngest victim of the events. The commemoration events continue with the laying of wreaths in front of the monument to the victims in Momchilgrad.
