The decision of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission to increase the price of gas by 30% on January 1 shows that the regulator is not doing its job. I hope the parliament will replace the chairman of the commission, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov told Nova TV.

A full lockdown over increased Covid incidence would be taken only as a last resort, the Prime Minister said. "There will be checks over cases of people who were registered as vaccinated but died from Covid. It will be checked where the vaccination was done," Petkov added.

A proposal to deploy NATO troops in Bulgaria had not been discussed, the prime minister said, expressing hope for de-escalation of tensions in Ukraine following talks between Russia and the United States.
