Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Kornelia Ninova has convened an expert council of the ruling coalition, calling for a bill to protect households from the arbitrariness of debt collection companies.

"After the occurrence of severe social, economic and energy crises, people are under psychological and physical pressure by debt collectors," Kornelia Ninova said. In her words, 17 debt collection companies were registered in Bulgaria, but their activities are not well regulated. That is why the new law should stipulate rules for recovery of receivable amounts. The authorities have suspended the increase in the prices of mobile services, Kornelia Ninova announced.
