During his visit to Serbia, Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov expressed a desire to resolve all outstanding issues so that the Western Balkans could have a clear European perspective. This was stated by Ana Brnabić serving as Serbia's Prime Minister at a joint press conference with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov in Belgrade. Petkov, for his part, stressed that for Bulgaria, Serbia's European integration was a huge priority.

"Energy connectivity between the two countries, especially gas connectivity, will be a huge priority," Petkov said, noting that there was great potential for creating a single market for gas trade between Bulgaria, Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia and Greece. "In order to have stability and independence in the energy sphere, we must unite the volumes of gas consumption from the whole region so that we can negotiate better prices together. This becomes especially important when we talk about liquefied gas," Petkov said. He also pointed to the potential for co-investment in the nuclear field, especially in the next Kozloduy project.

Ideas for joint tourist packages Belgrade-Burgas or Belgrade-Varna were discussed, as well as the possibility for startups in the IT sector on both sides to work together.

Regarding the tensions in Ukraine, the two prime ministers were adamant that the de-escalation of tensions in Ukraine should be done through diplomacy.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister has already met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who announced on Instagram that the focus of their conversation was on energy.
