President Rumen Radev convenes a meeting of the National Security Advisory Council over threats to national security and the current state of the armed forces, the presidential institution's press office has reported. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 15. The topic is "Risks and threats to the national security of the Republic of Bulgaria. State of the Armed Forces. Necessary measures." A special report by the Chief of Defense, Admiral Emil Eftimov, is expected.

The convening of the council comes a day after Minister of Defense Stefan Yanev acknowledged that the build-up of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine also threatened Bulgaria's national security.
