Weather report for Wednesday: Falling temperatures bring snow showers

Precipitation will continue in the afternoon. In almost all districts of Western and Central Bulgaria there is a first degree warning, code yellow, for significant precipitation. Moderate and temporarily strong northwesterly winds in the western part of the country, and northeasterly winds in eastern Bulgaria, colder air will continue to rush in and by 2 p.m. temperatures will range from 3°C in the northwest to 15°C in southeastern areas, where there will also be thunderstorm activity.

Rain will change to snow overnight in the higher fields of western Bulgaria. Precipitation will continue in the other areas of the country, more intensely in central Bulgaria.

Tomorrow, February 23, minimum temperatures will be between 2°C and 7°C, in Sofia - about 1°C, maximum - between 6°C and 11°C. It will remain mostly cloudy, with light rain in some places. Moderate winds will continue to blow in eastern Bulgaria and along the Black Sea coast. Clouds on the coast will remain significant and rain will fall along the southern coast.

In the mountains the weather will be cloudy, with light snow showers in places. A moderate north-westerly wind will blow, strengthening. Maximum temperatures in the resorts will drop and will be from minus 3° in Aleko to plus 1° in Pamporovo.

The risk of avalanches outside the groomed ski slopes remains high.
