“A TV channel showed the attacks against the military unit in the town of Vinnytsia and the transportation of wounded civilians. 20 kilometers away from Kyiv, in the town of Brovary, shelling against the military unit is taking place and we can hear it, although we are 60 kilometers away. We have just seen a missile flying towards Kyiv”. This is how Inna from Ukraine, who contacted Radio Bulgaria’s Russian language section, described the situation in her country. She called on the global community to help Ukraine and stop Russian President Vladimir Putin. In her words, people are shocked and many are seeking refuge in Western Europe.

“A real war broke out here. We are very peaceful and just want to live. A national state of emergency has been declared. We woke up at 5 am by the sound of explosions. A fighter aircraft was shot down not far from our home in Kyiv. Ukrainian military warehouses have been destroyed in many districts. We live near the military airport in Vasylkiv. 7 missiles have been fired against the airport. We have not attacked anyone and we had no such plans. We have children, but today, all schools are closed. Children are scared and we are trying to comfort them. We are very peaceful, but we will protect our Ukraine until the last drop of blood.”
