Bulgaria and Greece in negotiations over construction of new nuclear power plant

Photo: Archive

Bulgaria is negotiating with Greece to build a new nuclear power plant on Bulgarian territory. It will also be used by neighbouring countries under a long-term 20-year contract. It is being specified where it will be built, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev told Nova TV.

He described the project as part of energy independence measures. The plant will be built quickly if there is a buyer who is ready to buy electricity. This also eliminates the business risk for the new facility.

Negotiations are also underway for Bulgaria to buy part of the port of Alexandroupolis in Northern Greece, Vassilev said.
