Bulgaria's Prime Minister Kiril Petkov has convened an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers. The ministers will discuss the transportation of 140 Bulgarians out of Kyiv, the nuclear threat posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and the demanded resignation of Defense Minister Stefan Yanev. The resignation will be voted on on March 1 in Parliament, the prime minister announced, motivating the requested resignation as follows:

"No minister has the right to his own foreign policy, especially on Facebook. Second, no minister can tell the government that his stay is a function of government stability. This government will not pursue stability, it will pursue right actions and principled positions. Thirdly, my defence minister cannot use the word 'operation' instead of the word 'war'. The word operation cannot be used when thousands of soldiers on both sides have already been killed, when Bulgarians in Kyiv were hiding in basements last night," the prime minister added.
