“There is fuel everywhere, there is fuel available at petrol stations,” Prime Minister Kiril Petkov stated after a meeting with the Bulgarian Petroleum and Gas Association.
“We have fuel in large quantities, there is no problem throughout the supply chain. The only reason there was any panic is the appearance of a few photographs from small petrol stations as part of a political or hybrid attack by people connected with the youth organization of the opposition GERB party, creating a panic in the space of a few hours, without there being any reason for it,” PM Petkov emphasized. “If we sense any such jolts we have a coordinated answer and communication, so people will not succumb to all kinds of lies,” the Prime Minister said.
Later, the GERB party described the accusations of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov that its youth organisation was behind the hybrid attack as "feeble attempt“. "Instead of announcing the release of fuel from the state reserve at a low price and thereby reassuring people that the price will not rise as much as they fear, the government did nothing," MP Delyan Dobrev said.
