At the beginning of Lent, the so-called Holy Forty-day Fast, Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte urged the Orthodox in Bulgaria to do their best to support those, who are in distress because of the fratricidal war in Ukraine. The Holy Church "does not and cannot justify the forcible taking of human life, in any form and for any reason, because it is God who gives life," said the Bulgarian Patriarch in his address.

The Church always takes the side of truth and righteousness, and that is why in these days of severe tribulation the faithful are urged to intensify their prayers for an end to the war and the return of the Ukrainian people to their peaceful existence, Patriarch Neophyte said.
