Financial support for countering the effects of the pandemic in the agriculture sector has increased from 36.2m euros to nearly 56m euros, Deputy Agriculture Minister Ivan Hristanov said in Veliko Tarnovo. He clarified that a fair and transparent mechanism for their distribution is to be determined.

The Deputy Minister met with livestock breeders and agricultural producers in Veliko Tarnovo to discuss with them the problems in the industry, BTA reported. Hristanov assured journalists that he had the political will to solve the problems, but there must be concrete steps to eliminate the mistakes of the past. The purpose of the meetings with the industry by regions is exactly such a goal, the Deputy Minister commented.

According to him, there is an understanding from the Ministry of Finance and rice producers will be supported. Ways to compensate farmers, fruit growers and vegetable and vineyard owners are also being discussed, he said.
A meeting is scheduled for Monday, at which proposals for solving the problems will be discussed.
