Four NATO battle groups will be deployed in Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. Leaders of member states confirmed the deployment of the new battle groups at an emergency NATO summit today.

Bulgaria is expecting a total of 900 allied troops, 150 of them from the United Kingdom, and talks are also underway for Italian troops.

During the summit, NATO leaders also agreed to provide assistance to Ukraine in the event of a chemical, biological or nuclear weapons attack, as well as assistance in the event of a cyber attack. They urged China to refrain from intervening in the conflict to help Russia.

President Rumen Radev, who is representing Bulgaria at the forum, is expected to make a statement.
