At 8.30 PM people committed to preserving nature will turn off the lights in their homes for one hour, and by doing so will join the world initiative Earth Hour dedicated to protection of the environment.

This year’s campaign calls for peace and for pooling the efforts of the world for an end to the war in Ukraine. Throughout the day the green signal of many of the traffic lights in Sofia’s centre will be in the shape of a heart. A number of emblematic buildings in Sofia will turn off their exterior lighting at 8.30. In front of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, a beautiful mosaic will be put together out of bottle caps in the shape of the planet Earth.

“When it is finished the art installation will be put on public display in the capital city to convey a powerful message of peace, and to remind us every day to preserve our common home – the planet,” Konstantin Hristov from WWF, Bulgaria said.
