This afternoon, Bulgarian Ambassador to Russia Atanas Krastin arrived in Sofia from Moscow onboard a humanitarian flight. He was summoned for consultations by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs because of a statement made by Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Eleonora Mitrofanova.
In an interview with Russian media Mitrofanova claimed that the Bulgarian people did not support the rhetoric and actions of the Bulgarian government against Russia. In response, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov announced that the Bulgarian ambassador would be called for consultations in Sofia and expressed expectations that Moscow would respond with the same measure and summon Ambassador Mitrofanova to Moscow for consultations.
Today, a humanitarian flight brought home more than 60 Bulgarian citizens from the Russian capital.
