Bulgaria's Ministry of Education will submit legal proposals to facilitate Ukrainian students in Bulgaria, Minister Nikolay Denkov told the parliamentary committee for Bulgarians abroad.

The changes will also apply to prospective students from 6 other countries with a Bulgarian diaspora such as North Macedonia. The problem is that, as foreign citizens, they cannot take advantage of the opportunities for admission as Bulgarian students following the general regulations, Denkov explained. "Equalizing the rights of university applicants from the Bulgarian diaspora with their peers in Bulgaria is justified because it meets the Bulgarian national interests and does not create special privileges," the minister stressed.

The Education Ministry has announced the possibility for admission of 2,000 students from the diaspora as 1,000 are for students from Ukraine, Denkov announced.
