Bulgaria's Prime Minister Kiril Petkov has discussed Sofia-Skopje relations with EU Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi. In the talks with North Macedonia, the government defends Bulgaria's positions and for the first time has serious support in the EU because of its new approach, Petkov stressed.

Bulgaria expects North Macedonia's numerous promises to start giving results, which will strengthen mutual trust and create lasting preconditions for the development of good neighbourly relations. This was what President Rumen Radev said when he met with Commissioner Várhelyi.

Petar Kolev, leader of the Macedonian Democratic Union, the party of Macedonian Bulgarians, described as a "brutal forgery" the published data from the census in North Macedonia that there were exactly 3,504 Bulgarians in the country.
Our party received 3,555 votes in last year's parliamentary elections, Petar Kolev said. The aim of the falsification is not to fulfill the demand that Bulgarians in North Macedonia should be included in the country's constitution, the politician believes.
