Bulgaria has not pledged a date for lifting the veto on the start of the EU-North Macedonia accession negotiations, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said today, while visiting the town of Blagoevgrad.

"This calendar thing does not work", he said on the mention of a date by Macedonian media for the lifting of the Bulgarian veto. The Prime Minister, however, was firm that there has been serious progress in the dialogue with Bulgaria's south-western neighbour.

Referring to the census in North Macedonia, according to which the Bulgarians number 3504, Kiril Petkov commented, "The only way to have a real census, which will count all Bulgarians in the Republic of North Macedonia, is when Bulgarians' rights are included in the collective rights of the Constitution."
