After a 13-year hiatus, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) is once again organizing the National Olympiad in Ornithology. The competition aims to arouse the interest in birds and nature in as many young people as possible. It is aimed mainly at students from the 5th to 8th grade from all over the country, who have expressed their desire to participate by April 14.
The competition itself will be held in two rounds. The first 20 students who show the best result will be invited to participate in the second stage. Special prizes have been prepared for the winners, supporting their interest in ornithology.
The Ornithology Olympiad is one of the most important educational activities of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, which it conducted from 1999 to 2008 with the support of the Regional Structures of the Ministry of Education and Science.
So far, more than 10,000 students from all over the country have taken part in the competition, and some of the winners over the years have been distinguished scientists and specialists with notable achievements in nature conservation, numerous scientific publications and national and international awards.
