The closure of Bulgaria’s specialized court and prosecutor’s office to go down in EC’s rule of law report

The closing of the Specialized Court and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office will go down in the European Commission’s annual report on rule of law in the member countries, according to Anitta Hipper, EC spokeswoman on home affairs, migration and internal security. 

Anitta Hipper stated, at a briefing, that the European Commission was monitoring all events connected with rule of law including in Bulgaria, and that these events would be reflected in the upcoming report which would also include recommendations.

The decision to shut down the Specialized Criminal Court, the Appellate Specialized Criminal Court, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office and the Appellate Specialized Prosecutor’s Office was voted definitively by parliament last week.
