Bulgaria condemned Russia's aggression in the very first hours of the war. The country joined all sanction regimes against Russia, despite the high social cost. Bulgarians have opened their homes and hearts to Ukrainians”, President Rumen Radev said after the meeting with Ukraine‘s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba.

“We are calling for quick international investigation and punishment of the perpetrators of the atrocities”, President Radev said and expressed hope that Ukraine was doing everyting possible to minimize the risk to the lives of civilians and the Bulgarian minority. “Bulgaria is ready to restore the programme for the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers”, Rumen Radev said at the meeting. “It is in the interest of all countries that the Black Sea be a region of prosperity. That is why, we must continue with the sanctions”, Dmytro Kuleba noted.
