The price of gas for May in Bulgaria will be equal to the prices on European exchanges and the increase will be about 35%, predicts the chairman of Bulgaria's energy regulator Stanislav Todorov.

A final decision was not reached at the open meeting of Bulgaria's Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. The price will be announced after a closed meeting on May 10.

Bulgargaz is adamant that the quantities of gas for the country for the next month are provided and there will be no shortage.

In March, producer prices in Bulgaria increased by 4.3% compared to February and recorded an annual increase of 36.1% due to the sharp jump in energy prices by 85.2%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced. The data suggest a continued acceleration of inflation in the coming months, NSI predicts.
