There is no agreement in the EU on an oil embargo against Russia

The meeting of the permanent ambassadors of the EU member states ended without agreement on the proposals of the European Commission to impose an embargo on Russian oil until the end of the year with delays for Hungary, Bulgaria and several other countries. The ambassadors will resume the meeting on May 30 in a bid to reach a compromise ahead of the European leaders' meeting, which begins this afternoon.

German Economy Minister Robert Habeck has expressed concern that EU unity is "beginning to fall apart". According to Reuters sources, there is still resistance from Hungary, which is asking hundreds of millions of euros from Brussels to expand the capacity of the Croatian oil pipeline and reconfigure its refineries from the Russian Urals grade to Brent.

Issues related to the re-export of diesel from Slovakia to the Czech Republic are also to be clarified.
