Few were those who were willing to give all for their ideal, said PM Kiril Petkov, who took part in the pilgrimage to Okolchitsa on the occasion of the Day of Hristo Botev and all those who fell for Bulgaria’s liberation.

In his speech not far from the place where the poet and revolutionary died, the Prime Minister said: "In human history there were many statesmen, rulers, some of them have betrayed the motherland, some of them have conformed to the powerful of the day, and few have really been ready to give everything for the sake of their ideal. And Hristo Botev is among them".

The Day of Botev and the Heroes-Liberators of Bulgaria is marked with a traditional siren signal at 12 o'clock and commemorative celebrations throughout the country.
