Bulgaria's veto on the launch of negotiations for North Macedonia's EU membership will not be lifted by the end of the month, Andrei Gyurov, chairman of the parliamentary group "We Continue the Change", told BNR, commenting on claims that France, whose EU presidency expires in June, will offer guarantees in exchange for which Sofia will give the green light to the RNM to start negotiations.
"Lifting the veto depends on concrete actions and guarantees from both Europe and North Macedonia. If there is such a change in position, it should take place after a joint decision of the parliament - by the coalition and possibly within the Consultative Council of the National Assembly," the MP said. He said the issue should not be put to a referendum.
