Ukraine’s Ambassador to Sofia Vitaly Moskalenko stated, in an interview with bTV, that the Bulgarian government and Deputy Prime Minister Kalina Konstantinova had handled well the task of welcoming and accommodating the Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war. Ambassador Moskalenko added that temporary protection had been provided to the arrivals quickly, and that the problems with the queues forming in the buffer zones were a normal thing given the circumstances.

“The Bulgarian people has demonstrated an exceptional level of empathy and has treated the Ukrainian refugees very well – i.e. tens of thousands of women and children. That is why we are very grateful to our friend, Bulgaria,” he stated.
