He welcomed Sandu's strong commitment to lead Moldova towards European integration and on the path of reforms. The two leaders condemned the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, which has forced millions of Ukrainians to flee their homes.

Petkov noted that he highly appreciates the Moldovan authorities' support for preserving the national, cultural and linguistic identity of the Bulgarian national minority in Moldova.
