Reflecting on the recent turbulent period of political instability, 17% of Bulgarians agree with the statement "My country is governed according to the will of the people" and 77% answer negatively. This shows the data for Bulgaria in a global survey by Gallup International.
According to 22% of respondents, the elections in the country are free and fair, 65% are of the opposite opinion. 13% of Bulgarians believe that they are living in a strong democracy, for 12% the country does not meet one of the conditions for democracy, and two thirds find the level of democracy in Bulgaria weak.
