The websites of the Bulgarian state administration should use only fonts based on the Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet. This has been recommended by a special working group. The rules for the institutional identity of the websites of the administration have already been released for public discussion.

The use of regular letters in the shape of reduced capital letters is characteristic of Russian fonts used over the Internet, while in Bulgarian regular letters follow their handwriting shape. A popular font used in Bulgaria, Times New Roman, is a Russian variant of Cyrillic and is usually set by default. The initiative for promotion and use of Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet fonts was born back in 2014.
