The Italian town of Brunate in Lombardy will mark the 110th anniversary of Pencho Slaveykov's death. The great Bulgarian poet passed away on June 10, 1912 at the age of 46 in the town near the picturesque Lake Como.

A memorial plaque will be unveiled in honor of the poet's companion in life, Mara Belcheva. It is placed in the local hotel “Bellavista", where a memorial corner of Slaveykov will be opened too and a commemorative book will be presented.

On June 11, the events continue with a literary tour. Prof. Emil Dimitrov will hold a lecture in the town’s library on the work of the poet. A web site dedicated to Pencho Slaveykov will also be presented. A meeting between students from the Bulgarian school in Milan and those from the primary school in Brunate is scheduled to take place on June 12 in the library's auditorium.
