The Bulgarian National Assembly convened today an extraordinary session to discuss the vote of no confidence in the cabinet of Premier Kiril Petkov requested by the former ruling coalition GERB-SDS. The discussions continued for eight hours.

The vote will take place at an extraordinary sitting on Wednesday evening, but no earlier than 24 hours after the end of discussions today, the interim speaker of Bulgaria’s National Assembly Miroslav Ivanov announced. The vote of no confidence will be considered successful if more than half of the Bulgarian MPs vote in favor. If the National Assembly rejects the no-confidence motion, the MPs shall have no right to request another vote of no confidence in the next 6 months.

"I hope that the no confidence motion will not succeed", Premier Kiril Petkov told the media.
