The Cabinet rejected GERB leader Boyko Borissov's proposal that the Council of Ministers should first approve the French presidency's formula to enable the Republic of Macedonia to start EU membership negotiations, and then the decision to be supported in the National Assembly with the votes of GERB-FSD as well.
The Government's stance was made clear by the Cabinet spokesperson Lena Borislavova, quoted by The Dnevnik Daily. Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will not back down and change the procedure he has announced repeatedly - that the decision is to be voted first in the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, then in the plenary and finally in the Council of Ministers, Borislavova said.
"Boyko Borissov should instruct his 59 MPs to go to work and vote on the budget update and the laws on the Recovery and Resilience Plan," Lena Borislavova added.
