The world-renowned opera diva Raina Kabaivanska is the protagonist of a new documentary, La Scuola Kabaivanska ("The School of Kabaivanska"). After the premiere in Sofia on 24 May, the film will now have a screening in Rome, which will be attended by the opera star herself. The event is part of the Festival of Bulgarian Cinema, which is held for the 15th time in the Italian capital on the initiative of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute there.
The film is a first-person account of Kabaivanska - one of the most outstanding soprano voices of the second half of the 20th century. Her students, also well-known world opera singers - Andrea Carè, Veronica Simeoni, Vittoria Yeo, Maria Radoeva, together with two young debutants - Alexandrina Mihailova and Giuseppe Infantino - also share their insight.
The documentary is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Raina Kabaivanska's Master Class at New Bulgarian University in Sofia. The film will be screened on 26 June at the House of Cinema in the gardens of Villa Borghese in Rome. Director is Nayo Ticin and script writer is Petar Barbalov.
