The national exposition of arts and crafts in Oreshak village near Troyan is marking its 50th jubilee today with a retrospective exhibition “Tradition with a future”.
Vice President Iliana Iotova is a special guest at the event. Here is what she said: “This island – a stronghold of the past, of traditions and customs, deserves our respect, especially in the world of today, a world of wars, when people are talking more about the sale of weapons than they are about peace, a world of severe economic and social crises, when petty political interests are undermining statehood.”
Visitors coming to Oreshak will be able to see the exhibits created by several generations of master craftsmen of different schools – pottery, embroidery, woodcarving. “It is a place where our roots are alive, a place where craft skills meet national cultures, a tourist destination well known in the region, in the country and the world,” Ivanka Jabrailova, director of the exposition said at the opening of the event.
