MPs vote harsher fines for Cyber crime, intellectual property theft

MPs have passed a motion to extend prison terms and increase fines for various forms of computer crime. These include theft of intellectual and industrial property, infection of an information system with a computer virus, child sexual exploitation on the Internet, etc.

Depending on the gravity of the violations, the fines range from €5 to €10,000 and prison sentences from 4 to 12 years.
