Undeclared currency for more than 1.1 million leva was found in a van from the UK bound for Turkey at Captain Andreevo checkpoint

Undeclared 484 160 British pounds and 11 240 Scottish pounds with a lev equivalent of 1 118 221 leva (571,800 Euro) were found hidden in a minivan with Turkish registration by customs officers at the "Kapitan Andreevo" checkpoint. The van was travelling from the UK via Bulgaria to Turkey, the regional press centre of customs in Svilengrad said. The driver, a 30-year old Turkish citizen, has been charged and detained for 72 hours.
