The crackdown on traffic crime followed Tuesday night's tragic car crash in Sofia in which two young women died. The driver, former Levski football player Georgi Semerdjiev, who has about 50 traffic violations, fled the scene and a Sofia police officer helped him hide, but he was later detained. Outgoing Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov said Semerdjiev had had his licence revoked since 2005, but had been driving various vehicles until today.
