The ongoing programme for accommodation of Ukrainian refugees ends on August 31, Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva said for the BNT.
Nearly 26,000 Ukrainians have been accommodated in 1,000 hotels and state facilities. A coordination group will be set up to decide how to provide for these people after the end of August.
In Deputy Minister Georgieva’s words, late payments to 562 hoteliers to the tune of nearly EUR 36 million are due to the massive amount of documentation that had to be checked to make sure the EU funds are spent on the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees. The documents for June, July and August will be processed more quickly, Irena Georgieva said.
