The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works will fund 234 municipalities for water and sewage, roads and streets. For this purpose, about EUR 209 million are provided through the restructuring of the ministry's budget, the ministry said. Nearly 300 projects for roads, streets and sanitation infrastructure will be financed.
Municipalities will receive 50% of the required funding for each project. The argument being that they will not be completed by the end of the year.
The requirements that as many municipalities as possible receive funding and that proper planning and technical documentation, including a valid building permit, are in place, have been met. The requirement for contractors to be selected following procedures under the Public Procurement Act has been removed.
The total value of all projects is over EUR 413 million.
