With a declaration, the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party separated itself from three of its members - Krum Zarkov, Vesela Lecheva and Yavor Gechev, who agreed to be acting ministers in the new caretaker cabinet.

The chairperson of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and former deputy prime minister Kornelia Ninova commented that the decisions of the three were solely their responsibility, but they would not be removed by the National Council and the BSP.

"We consider inadmissible the interference of the presidential institution in internal party affairs of political parties, whatever they are, and in particular those of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. Those who are appointed as ministers, deputy ministers and regional governors and deputy regional governors participate in this government in their personal capacity, not with a mandate from the Bulgarian Socialist and not as representatives of the party," Ninova said.
