Bulgaria's Caretaker Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev told BNR that there would be results of the investigation into abuses surrounding the construction of the Hemus highway. According to him, the case, in which so far there is only one accused person, requires more large-scale actions, including bringing more people to justice.

At a National meeting of the Ministry of the Interior, Demerdzhiev promised uncompromising actions against manifestations of corruption in the department. The minister stated that he would demand that the Ministry of Internal Affairs be guided by the principle of legality in actions.

"Each of you who abides by this principle will have the full support of the leadership, but we will be uncompromising towards those who commit offenses and crimes," he stressed. Another priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs remains countering illegal migration and the increasing pressure.

"We cannot allow migrant flows to pass through the country, we will take measures to maintain the situation along the border and even improve it," he commented.
