A foreign national detained at the Turkish border with over 100 kilograms of heroin

A 38-year-old man of both French and Turkish citizenship was detained at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint while crossing from Turkey into Bulgaria on 15 August 2022. 104,940 kilograms of heroin and some hashish worth a total of 4.829 million euros were found during an inspection of the car of the man who was travelling to France. The narcotics and the car were seized. An investigation into the case is ongoing.
