Gas supply tensions in Bulgaria continue

The former coalition partners of the last regular government - "Democratic Bulgaria" accused the caretaker government of making the country dependent on the Kremlin for gas. In a statement to the media, the formation insists that the interim government ensure supplies of liquefied gas for a minimum of 12 months in order to guarantee consumption in Bulgaria.

In the event of a complete shutdown of Russian gas to Europe this winter, the cabinet should prepare a plan to compensate domestic consumers and businesses for high gas prices.

To a journalist's question related to supplies, Vice President Iliana Iotova stated that the actions of the caretaker government to guarantee Bulgaria's energy security are in the right direction. According to Yotova, the decision for the one tanker was made because of the offer prepared by the previous government, without the infrastructure for it being provided.

Therefore, the official cabinet is looking for a solution to reduce the increase in the prices of gas and other energy supplies.
